The Radiant Star
of Taiwan, Lee Kuei-Shien
The star
of Taiwan that once shone on earth
Can now
be seen from anywhere,
Becoming
an eternal light in the sky,
It
watches over us forevermore.
Though
our meeting was brief,
It felt
like the bond of a lifelong friend.
His
clear gaze, his warm touch—
Etched
deeply in my heart,
The
noble poet has ascended,
Shining
the sacred light of poetry,
Following
the path he left behind,
We, too,
shall walk together.
The tree
of poetic life grows,
Drinking
from the waters of the Tamsui River,
Blooming
once more in radiant beauty,
That
ever-flowing stream shall never run dry,
And in
my heart, it shall flow eternally.
찬란한 대만의 별 리쿠이셴
지상에서 빛나던 대만의 별,
이제는 어디서든 볼 수 있어,
영원히 빛나는 하늘의 별로
우리 곁을 지키고 있네.
단 한 번의 짧은 만남이었지만,
일생을 함께한 친구처럼
맑은 눈빛, 따스한 손길
가슴 깊이 새겨지네.
고매한 시성은 하늘에 올라
숭고한 시의 빛을 비추고,
그가 남긴 시의 길 따라
우리도 함께 걸어가네.
시의 생명나무는 자라나며
담수이강 물을 마시고
다시금 아름다운 꽃을 피우리라.
영원히 마르지 않을 그 강물이
내 가슴속에서도 흐르리라.
Biography
Poetess
Ms. Yang Geum-Hee, born in 1967 in Jeju, Korea, has authored two poetry
collections, Happiness Account and Ieodo: Island of Legend and Existence, as
well as an essay collection titled Happy Companion. She was the founding
president of the Ieodo Literature Association and the second president of the
Korean Association of World Literature.
Ms.
Yang has also served as editor-in-chief at Jejuin News, a researcher at the
Jeju Sea Grand Center at Jeju National University, and a specially appointed
professor at Jeju International University.
Currently,
she is an editorial writer for Samdailbo Newspaper, a special researcher at the
Institute of Social Sciences at Jeju National University, the president of Jeju
PEN, the Vice President of the Korean Institute for Peace and Cooperation, and
an executive member of the Korean Association of Ethics.
Ms.
Yang has received eight literary awards for her contributions to literature.
Her poetry has been translated into multiple languages and introduced in the
United States, China, Japan, Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain, England, Taiwan,
Nepal, Egypt, Greece, Pakistan, Vietnam, Albania, Bangladesh, Kosovo,
Tajikistan, and beyond.
