In the Garden of Almond by Tong Thu Ngan

In the Garden of Almond

The dawn is filled with the sound of birds singing,

In the garden of almonds,

My soul is filled with light,

Illuminating my soul, illuminating the whole world,

What am I looking for in this world?

Peaceful life, happy love,

Warm human love is all around us,

A peaceful world, a blue sky filled with doves,

I still long to find,

The truth in this world,

Unreal, real,

Illusions like the yellow autumn afternoons,

In the garden of almonds,

I am silent like an ascetic,

Alone in my own fruit-filled garden,

My own almond garden,

The wind blows, the clouds drift,

I am like a beggar whose knees are tired,

I wander in the garden of almonds,

The ripe red apples smell of wild grass,

In the forest of thoughts,

Silent notes,

Birds singing in the almond garden,

Flowers and leaves swaying.
