I serve the silence

within the folds of silence

there is a noise

a voice

constantly beckoning

for my reckoning

and the awakening

of my greater self

all riddles have answers

I am told

all solutions

serve the equation

for that is their duty

I am listening

and I await the lighting

of the candle

that I may remove the bushel

that all in the room may see

and again the formulas fails

where, what is that cloak

that veils the essence

of this light within

casting dispersion upon self

to what end does that serve

does it validate sin’s presence

of that of the illusion

the age of confusion

is upon us

twirling and knitting

and gnarling and sitting

working convexments

around and through

the minds of men

that we may create our own delusions

by the dozens

wholesaling our souls

to the highest bidders

bloodied esteems

litter the landscapes

of the promises we dream of

for some, it is all we have left

dreams so we may think on it

so why not think on

about the uselessness

of aspiring thoughts

which are tethered

neither to deed not intent

the jackal captures the imaginings

in the throes of carnality

revealing the futility

of our mountains of civility

laced with the bitters

the poisonous flavors

of protocol

and the call

is unanswered

so this is why

I chose the silence

though it is but another tease

I yet still seek it

here upon my proverbial knees

listening for that voice I serve

for

Biography

A 2016, 2019 and 2025 nominee for the Pulitzer Prize for Literature, William S. Peters, Sr., AKA ‘just bill’, has devoted himself to poetry since 1966. He holds the passionate conviction that the written word is a necessity, regardless of form.

The author’s spiritual essence reflects in his socially conscientious actions, all of which serve his efforts to ease his personal angst while contributing to the betterment of humanity and the reconciliation of its plight.

Nothing Happened to Me

I wanted to do a lot of penance and struggle

in life!

How much income do I want to earn in my life!

I wanted to give up personal interest in

philanthropy!

In my life I wanted to learn to read and

write.

How many transactions did you want in life!

I wanted to do social service and charity in

life!

I want to fight on behalf of the oppressed

against tyranny!

In my life, I wanted to mix with the people

of the towns and cities.

How many times in my life have I wanted to

continue trying to establish the truth and destroy false opinions!

How much discussion and criticism in my life

I wanted to give a speech!

How much I wanted to be in life, how high I

wanted to sit!

How much I wanted to achieve in life!

How many times in my life have I wanted to

sing, have I wanted to play the flute!

How many rivers and seas I want to cross in

life! How many forests, mountains, shadows, parallel desert roads I wanted to

travel in life!

How many things I want to give to people in

life!

In the end nothing happened in my life-

I couldn't be a leader, a hero, a singer, an

artist, a saint, a monk, a poet, a writer, an artist, a researcher, a doctor,

an engineer!

Life for me,

A younger boy's hands melted like ice cream.

Biography

Md. Sadikur Rahman Rumen was  born June 22,1977 in Jamalpur village of Jagannathpur upazila under Sunamganj district of Bangladesh. His late father was Md. Rashid Ali, and his mother Mrs. Moriom Begum. Sadikur is married to Mst. Rejna Begum with have one daughter and four sons.

Writing spans almost three decades, starting from childhood school life, till today

Published single book of poetry Kalpataru,

besides ten collective books of poetry, edited two collections, edited monthly

magazine Muktadhara, editor-in-chief Pencraft, editor In world literature, The

Daily Global Nation Dhaka Bangladesh and the editor creative literary

collection Darpan.

In addition, he is the honorary chief editor

of the editorial board of various international magazines, besides being a

promising poet, writer, literary critic, essayist, columnist, and his writings

are regularly published in various domestic and international media.

His poems have already been translated into many languages of the world, including English, Arabic, Hindi, Kyrgyz, Azerbaijani, Tajik, Italian, Romanian, Spanish, Portuguese, Latin, Albanian, Kosovo, and published in magazines and anthologies of various countries. Recent mentions: Orfeu .al International Journal of Language Literature, with Greec magazine Homo Universal. Belgian newspapers Autonis, Gazeta Destinaçoni, Quick World, Egyptian magazine Azhar Al Harf,  published in bilingual translation by poet ANGELA KOSTA in the Italian newspaper Alessandria Today etc. And poet An Marie Hansraj edited: Wordsmith Editorial 15th and 16th editions, and his writings have been published in numerous international anthologies and journals, including Multiart Volume 8 and 9, etc., edited by Prof. Mirta Ramirez from Argentina.

In his poetry, along with patriotism, love-nature, romanticism humanism, a careful impression of spiritual consciousness is noticeable.
